Individual Therapy
Turning points occur as we enter new life stages, grow and change in relationships, manage personal and professional challenges, and when we are forced to confront upheavals in our world. I often see people who want to make positive changes in their lives and relationships by exploring difficult emotions, unhelpful thought or behavior patterns and coping mechanisms, or ways of relating with others that are no longer working. My goal is to help you navigate life’s inevitable changes and challenges with intention and clarity, so you can make choices for yourself from a place of confidence, compassion and wisdom.
In individual therapy, I work with adults and high school and college-aged adolescents/young adults. I enjoy supporting both adults and teens in the process of navigating inner and outer struggles related to education, career, relationships, family, identity, purpose, and meaning. I also appreciate working with more mature adults, who may be experiencing life changes with a new and deeper perspective as they continue to adjust to shifting life roles, transformation of goals, and ongoing search for meaning.
Identifying patterns in behaviors and relationships can uncover useful information about unconscious beliefs and needs. I often incorporate the concept and practice of mindfulness (being awake to the present moment), as one way to invite the qualities of curiosity, acceptance and self-compassion into the often uncomfortable and sometimes painful process of being an imperfect human in a chaotic and unpredictable world.
Some common areas of concern I work with include:
anxiety and depression
relationship challenges
chronic stress
unwanted behaviors
career direction
work/life balance
negative thought patterns
life purpose
identity
self-confidence
